Don Sullivan, The Dogfather

I was watching some late night TV and came across this informercial for The Perfect Dog featuring The Dogfather, Don Sullivan.

Here's one person's experience.

more comments. Seems the system uses a special collar that works not unlike a choke chain

[5/28/10] Karen Pryor (or is it Kristy Peake or is it Corinthian?) apparently puts her nose up at anybody who doesn't subscribe to her correct terminology of operant conditioning.

Cesar, Brad Pattison, Don Sullivan, and the "Natural" trainers (which would be Behan, LCK, Sattin) are lumped together (and implicitly dismissed). But from what I can see, all these "alternative" trainers are effective. And I'd bet more effective than their one-trick critics. Which makes me want to gravitate to them further.

Here's another discussion with people's experiences on Sullivan which seems pretty "positive" (from the early ones I read anyway).

Hey it's not like everyone in the history of animal training before Pryor and company came along was evil.

Saw Don Sullivan's system on a shopping channel (on DirectTV) at my sisters house.

So I took a look again.  There are some videos on youtube.  And apparently some people have had good results with this system.  The denizens at dogwise are predictably less receptive.  One recommended a look at Zoomility which sounds interesting.  The rationale is that you can't use these techniques on wild animals such as a grizzly bear.  Which makes sense (in a way).
