No Jojo, so decided to take out Tuffy by myself.
Steve is leaving and I go to treat Izzy and Cubby. They're still excited, but Izzy sits readily, though Cubby takes a little while to sit
Ugh. Step in some poop so I hose it off.
Tuffy's line breaks and I have to retie it.
Here comes Duane and Jojo. Retrieve Fifi and we go to end of street.
Duane wants to treat Tasha, I wind up talking to the people living there. Says she's good with kids. Not as much with other people and other dogs. Want to try to see how she is with me without the dogs.
Walk back with Duane. Take Fifi and Tuffy home to get another poop bag and drink some water in garage.
Take home Tuffy and Fifi.
OK, time to look at Tasha (who's a two or three year old bull terrier).
They seem leery of me going in to get her. So the guy brings her out on a chain.
Have her sniff me, then I ask I can get take the chain. Ears are up and tail a little tucked.
I give her a treat which she takes fine. But then she starts jumping up (for more treats?) and gets me in the finger. Kind of like a puppy bite to me.
Take her out for a short walk. Mostly OK, but then she jumps up for the treat (instead of sitting like I want her to).
Take her in the gate and she seems OK with me inside. Chat with Cozi. They're thinking of taking him to the Humane Society. She wants to keep him, but the other people think she's a crazy dog. They rehomed him once to a family with pet bulls and one of them was a vet. But they couldn't handle and had to return her.
Apparently she's protective of Cozi. And I think she has to learn not to jump up on people.
I go out the gate and tell Cozi to let her go. She comes and takes food from me through the gate with no problem. Hopefully she'll remember and do that next time.
Go home and look up bull terriers. Apparently not an easy breed.
***
[4/23/13] A few months later, we noticed that we didn't see Tasha around any more. Turned out they remained worried about her behaviour outside, so they took her to the Humane Society.

down goes Sheila!
No Jojo this morning, so decided to take out Tuffy. But first see if I can teach Izzy and Cubby some self-control. As usual they were excited and barking. But had them sit and wait for treats. Izzy would still snap at Cubby to get away (from her treats). But they were sort of in control toward the end.
Then went to retrieve Fifi. Mamo is out and ask him if he wants some tangerines (that Donna picked at Cheryl's house). Take Fifi and Tuffy in the back. Get the tangerines. Retrieve Hershey. Deliver tangerines
Went up to Coco's house. Coco started barking, so Cheryl knew it was time for the walk.
Cheryl's friend (Sheila) is visiting from the mainland and she came out too.
I asked her if she walked on the mainland and she said she likes to walk. Then I asked if she might want to walk a dog too. I wondered which one would be easiest for her. And she said I could give her a hard one, so I handed off Tuffy.
And off they went down the road leaving us in the dirt.
Then I thought maybe she could walk Fifi too since Fifi probably would want a faster pace. So I handed her Fifi too. They started trotting down the road. But then Sheila fell face first on the road.
Oh boy. When we got her, she had bloodied her nose and her knee. Cheryl was ready to call emergency, but she said she was OK and I wiped off some blood from her face. A worked nearby brought some water, so I could dab my napkin and wipe.
OK, back to the house. Good thing Zeny's a nurse.
Cheryl let me in and I went to treat the dogs. And soon enough Jojo was at the gate. So I let him in too. Then Cheryl came out with some bigger treats.
OK, time to go. Go for another lap. Then take Hershey home. Take Tuffy home. Then take Fifi home.
OK, now Kimo is ready to go out. First retrieve some more tangerines. Give some to Shirley Iha who was outside. Melinda is ready to go out, so ask her but she didn't want. Gave some to Stanley. Then some to Sam.
Back home, catch some fleas on Jojo. Give Kimo and Jojo some food.

cat walks home
BEDFORD, N.H.
(AP) — Animal rescue league officials say they don't know how a black
cat walked about 6 miles in three days to find his way back home in New
Hampshire.
Wollie the cat has been reunited with Barbara Oliphant.
WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/LW0kw7
) she began caring for the stray last summer. But when her husband was
hospitalized with a stroke, she said she couldn't give Wollie much
attention and turned him over to the Animal Rescue League of New
Hampshire in Bedford in early June.
Her
husband began getting better, and Oliphant missed Wollie terribly. Her
daughter secretly adopted him on June 23, but Wollie poked a paw through
his zippered carrier in the parking lot and escaped.
Three days later, Oliphant said she spotted Wollie crossing a road leading to the house.

expensive dog
How much would you be willing to pay for a dog? A coal industrialist in
China shelled out a whopping $1.5 million to purchase a 180-pound
11-month old dog named “Hong Dong” (translates to “Big Splash” in
English). Big Splash is a prized red Tibetan Mastiff, a rare breed thought to be among the oldest and most respected dogs in the world.
Big Splash is a particularly rare mastiff, as he is red, which is considered to be a lucky color.

Taz
Reef practicing tee-ball with son / go out to keep Kimo company
Duane comes with Coco / manage to bring Kimo out and walk with them
say hi to Tuffy, Duane gives me jerky strips to give to the puppies
walk back / Cathy says there's a white dog loose on the street that hey petted
at first glance looked like a samoyed, but it was a white furry dog with a few brown spots
Kimo goes wild on the leash
took Kimo home and Duane let Coco loose and leashed him up
then I brought my leash and took over, seemed relaxed and friendly and walked really well
walked him up the street and back down, Kimo was barking on the landing
then I came toward the driveway and Kimo calmed down and I let them sniff through the fence
then I grabbed a leash with the idea of walking him with Tuffy
but Tuffy reacted wildly (so that's what the Miyamotos mean)
saw Malie out with Kimo and brought him in the gate
then decided to hit the road hoping somebody might be out looking for him
went around the bend to Makanani
then up Aulii letting him lead me sometimes hoping he'll lead me to his house
then down Alewa
he started pulling into a driveway so I though maybe this was it
but then he started barking at a smaller dog behind the fence (and vice-versa)
a lady came out and she didn't know who the dog was
then a little more down and I see a lady coming up from the driveway
it's her dog (and her sons were out looking for him)
name is Taz (walked well and was calm at least until that small dog behind the fence)
go home through AOP then behind Chung's house

Lennox
A two-year international battle to save pug-nosed Lennox, whose
resemblance to a pitbull brought it a death warrant from the City
Council in Belfast, Northern Ireland, ended Wednesday with the
announcement that city officials killed the 7-year-old dog.
The City Council declared Lennox had a severe personality disorder, but his owners, the Barnes family, said he was a well-handled American bulldog-Labrador cross. After measuring his legs and snout, dog wardens declared Lennox a “possible pitbull type” and in 2010 seized him under the UK’s dangerous dog act.
Owner Caroline Barnes, said her teenage daughter, Brooke, had been denied the chance to say a final farewell, the Belfast Telegraph reported.
The euthanizing sparked expressions of outrage, including from celebrities such as Victoria Stilwell, host of Animal Planet’s “It’s Me or the Dog.”
“Outraged & devastated for the Barnes family,” Stilwell tweeted. “@BelfastCC are defending their decision to murder this ‘dangerous dog, but the world knows different.'”
Stilwell had offered to the Belfast City Council to take Lennox, all expenses paid, to a new home in the United States, but her request for a meeting to discuss the proposal went unanswered.
"I think the council had something to prove, and they were going to do it even though it was wrong," Stilwell told msnbc.com.

Tuffy, Jojo, Kimo at the dog park
I went to fix the rubber seal at the top of the door and had the door open. Jojo went in naturally, but then Kimo went in too.
OK, close the door for a while since Kimo didn't seem to want to come out. Then decide to retrieve Tuffy (see Nalu give Tuffy his food and he readily eats it practically non-stop) and take them to the dog park.
Since Moanalua dog park is closed, decided to take them to the Diamond Head bark park.
Got there and it wasn't very crowded. The dogs were kind of pulling me though (at least Tuffy and Jojo) so I sure didn't look like no dog whisperer going in.
The three kind of kept to themselves at first. Then went over to the chihuahua who was OK, but then started growling at them when they got too close. The lady thinks he's trying to assert his dominance. Could be he's trying to protect her. In that case, she could be right.
There was another small white dog around Jojo's size and they seemed OK around him/her.
Then came two boxers and they were OK. The lady was using some kind of frisbee for them to retrieve. Or was it just one of them.
Then there was a larger white older white dog. That they seemed OK with.
Then there was a chow mix. Nice looking fur. Especially compared to the scraggly fur of Tuffy.
And finally a doberman. A young girl. This is the one to match Jojo's energy. And Jojo got her to chase him for a while a couple of times.
Finally time to go home.
The dogs seemed tired as Jojo stayed until part of the afternoon on the front steps. At one point, Kimo was barking, so I went to lie down by the door. And Kimo came up to lie down by the door. And Jojo decided to stay on the pillow, though he usually vacated the pillow when Kimo comes up to lie down at the top landing.

Maka and Bev
After taking Kimo out to pee (and he comes right back), decided to take Tuffy out.
First treat Izzy and Cubby who still get excited at the gate. Treat them when they calm a little. Then take out Tuffy.
Roy and Charlotte are about to go walking, so chat with them a bit. Then retrieve Fifi and catch up to them. They want to go to Coco's and I notice the gate is not closed well. Let them in. Coco growls a bit at Fifi (maybe because she went after him a bit when he tried to mount her last time) and she either doesn't notice or ignores. Bring them back out again and continue walking.
Roy and Charlotte go home after a lap, so take Tuffy and Fifi for another lap. Hey here comes Maka and his mommy. Let the dogs sniff though she's kind of pulling Maka away. But they're OK. And I tag along with her.
She goes long and I decided to follow her. Down Lolena, Hala, Naio, Maalaea, Skyline, Hillcrest, Makanani, and back to Kula. Tuffy and Fifi are pulling for much of the way and toward the end they're getting tired and aren't pulling so much. Notice Fifi isn't really that big compared to Maka.
Take home the antifreeze that Roy gave me (he had too much).
BTW, her name is Bev and her husband is Barry (who got into a bike accident and is laid out for a while).
